Sarasota-Brandenton home sales lowest drop in Florida
While the rest of Florida saw a 29 percent drop in home sales during the third quarter, Sarasota-Brandenton home sales only dropped 5 percent during the third quarter.
While ordinarily a drop in home sales is no reason to celebrate, when you’re the best performance in the state of Florida it is. Miami saw a 42 percent decline, Ocala a 53 percent drop, and Fort Myers-Cape Coral and Orlando saw a 39 percent drop. Suddenly, a 5 percent drop doesn’t sound so bad.
During the third quarter, 2,084 homes were sold in the Sarasota-Brandenton area. Compare that to 2,195 that were sold during the same quarter in 2006.
Home prices did decline in line with the rest of the state with a 6 percent decrease. The median sales price was $283,800 compared to $301,800 from the third quarter last year.
