Sebastian may stop certifying construction contractors
Due to the downturn in construction, the city of Sebastian wants to stop certifying new construction contractors.
City Building Directory Wayne Esetline said the process was too costly and time consuming for the city to continue sponsoring construction contractors when they can get first-time licenses elsewhere in the state.
The proposed change would not affect the 800 or so currently licensed contractors. They could still get annual licenses if they meet requirements. Additionally, outside contractors who are licensed elsewhere in Florida can continue to work in Sebastian.
