Home Builder Confidence Declines
Nationwide, home builder confidence has dropped to a record low, tying the index from January, 1991. According to the National Association of Home Builers / Wells Fargo, the index of builder confidence has dropped to 20. Levels below 50 mean most respondents view the condition as poor.
According to the group president, Brian Catalde, “Home buyers are getting spooked by the many headlines they are seeing of mortgage-market issues and their continuing effects on the housing market and home prices.”
