A Drive-by Solution to Affordable Housing Problems in Florida
Fears about the Florida real estate market are spreading. A lack of affordable Florida home loans is a constant concern. What’s a governor to do about the issue?
Jeb Bush has agreed on one unique solutuon at least. He just signed a bill into law that establishes a specialty license plate, with proceeds to help workforce housing programs. It certainly can’t hurt the problem - and perhaps it will shed light on a growing state issue.
The bill was brought up partly due to numerous Florida home loan fears. Word can now get out, as Florida Realtors and the Florida Association of Realtors both applauded the governor for approving HB 1589, sponsored by state Rep. Chris Smith, D-Fort Lauderdale, and Sen. Dave Aronberg, D-Greenacres.
“The ‘Support Homeownership for All’ license plate offers a wonderful opportunity for each of us who live and work in Florida to be part of the solution concerning the critical housing needs of so many residents,” FAR President Mike Dooley said.
“Support Homeownership for All” license plates are to be available for purchase within a year. They’ll hopefully be a step in the widespread availability and demand of reasonable Florida home loans.
