Nova Southeastern University Will Offer New MBA Program in Real Estate Development

Amid a climate of heightened interest in Florida real estate, the business school at Nova Southeastern University has developed a Masters of Business Administration in real estate development program. The South Florida Business Journal reports that the program will make its debut this spring.

The H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship at the Davie, Fla., university will teach theory and practice, with help from visiting professional lecturers. Wayne Falbey, President and CEO of the Naples-based Falbey Group, helped design the curriculum and will teach courses, as well as recruit other professionals to lecture as students look to learn more about all facets of the South Florida housing market.

Falbey believes Florida’s increasing appeal to homeowners makes it a prime location for the real estate program.

“Florida’s population is increasing by more than 1,000 people per day, and is expected to expand by several million people in the years, becoming the third most populous state in the union. These new residents will require homes, apartments, offices, schools, medical and recreational facilities,” he said. “This demand will continue to qualify real estate development as an economic base industry in Florida.”

In addition to the core curriculum associated with an MB program, NSU said students in the real estate program will have the chance to take specialty courses including the Florida real estate development process; Florida home loan finance: markets, analysis, and strategies; land use planning and project design; land use regulation: entitlements and permitting in a growth managed environment; and project and construction management.
